We return to a slightly larger Legacy shack. Kailani doesn't really have much time to enjoy the fact that there's
rooms now, she goes and passes out. Baby Caspian has a room all to himself so everyone can get some sleep.
Lakai greets the new baby, not knowing what's soon in store for her...
I still can't get over how weird baby aliens look. They kind of freak me out a little.
I finally figured out that the 'Mate with...' command was hidden beneath the friendly menu and refused to pop up contextually like it had previously! So, Lakai and Zeus are expecting. Exciting!
Unfortunately... I know zero about pets in this game and didn't realize that meant she'd give birth almost
immediately. It felt like barely a day! I wasn't prepared for this! I also wasn't prepared for the puppies to clutter up the rest of the household.
So, we've got a full house with three puppies, two dogs, a baby, and two young adults. Fantastic.
Rory and Kailani enjoy some rare downtime and look up at the sky... while Lakai makes a deposit behind them. Gross! That's her designated spot for that, right in front of the steps.
Also, it is around this time that I realized puppies can't climb stairs... so the dogs never use the bathroom. I even added a deck around the side for them to use, but that didn't work, either. So there was a lot of puppy crying.
All of this chaos just in time for Caspain to become a
Charming toddler. Fantastic. I don't think I've ever had a
Charming trait before. I'm assuming this means he's going to be exceptionally needy because his social need will deplete quickly.
Here's hoping dogs help. His parents are busy!
I really need to get these people some fun things to do. Kailani's fun need is almost always yellow and dancing doesn't really cut it. Rory is in the same boat due to his work load becoming more demanding. I'm trying not to over-expand and upgrade everything too quickly, though.
I don't want the third generation to look like a bunch of land barons sitting on gilded cushions.
Oh, great. Another random death. Was this sunlight or heatstroke? I have no idea. I'm pretty sure it's fall at this point, so it's got to be a vampire. Where do they come from? I have aging and whatever else turned off because I don't want a bunch of template faces running around. My game
never seems to choose to randomize from my gallery.
What's cuter than sim toddlers? Sim toddlers holding sim puppies. Aw! It's almost worth the headache...
Despite his absence, Rory is a good dad. He autonomously takes care of Caspian despite his low moods. It's sweet. With the puppies and dogs everywhere, it's a bit chaotic.
The puppies age up, finally, and get shipped off. I just
can't. Lakai became an elder shortly after giving birth, so no more puppies for her. I kept the puppy that Caspian was most attached to. I was going to try and breed dogs while also going through generations, but I need to research how long pets actually live for...
Also, note to self, sell puppies before they turn into adults. Everyone was crying because I shipped off two of the dogs.
Sorry, but we needed room for baby #2! Kailani autonomously gives Rory the good news once she finds out. Lakai judges them from afar, probably still sore we sent her babies packing.
Kailani spends quite a lot of her pregnancy fishing so we have more fertilizer for her plants. She does a pretty good job and it gives her fun, since she Loves the Outdoors. Besides, I'm sure it's preferable to the madhouse she has to go back to. She and Rory have been taking turns working from home to care for Caspian. As a person who works FT and is also working from home with two kids under six during this quarantine, I can confirm... it's not a freaking vacation.
Fall creeps to a close and the first snow appears... only to become a blizzard that seems endless. I'm beginning to realize that Brindleton Bay is more than just rainy... it's blizzardy, to. Extremes seem to the norm here.
Kailani waddles out in the midst of a blizzard in her pajamas just to go check on her plants in the festive greenhouse. She doesn't even seem to care that she might blow away.
Caspian takes his meals out on the porch so to get a better view of all the endless white pouring down around them. It's crazy. Aren't sims supposed to run inside when things get crazy like this? Even the dogs won't venture out to use the bathroom!
Aww, they actually have dinner together as a family for the first time ever. Immediately after eating, Kailani goes from her strange contortion into labor.
Darya is born, looking very much like her brother. By the time Darya is a toddler, Caspian will be aging into a child, so this is fine.
