1.1 - It Begins

I've done (and completed) a legacy for every The Sims game since The Sims 2. Unfortunately, my TS2 legacy was posted to that album sharing thing that I only vaguely remember on the official site. Man. Tough memories. I'm kind of glad it's lost to the annals of time...

With TS4, I've had a lot of trouble "getting into it." I have a Random Legacy that made it to generation five, but that fizzled out and I lost my gen roll; I just don't care to trifle with it right now. So, instead, I'm going to do a classic legacy... where I very loosely care about the rules and just try to make it to generation ten. Huzzah.

Unlike most, this will not be a story and honestly, I may not even share this link. Because I don't really do that anymore and I mostly just want to chronicle this so I can look back and go: "hey, I did that once." Which is what I recently did with my TS3 legacy and which is why we are here now. 

So, here's my founder. The naming theme is going to be oceanic, so yeah. This sim is actually a generation 3 sim from a world I started in an attempt to play the game as I like to. She's been altered a bit and given a different name and traits.

Still, she's cute as hell and I love her.

I decided to start the legacy on that 64x64 lot in Brindleton Bay hood/world/whatever they're calling them because I've not played it at all. The lot is gorgeous and has a ton of walking trails to the beach nearby, which is convenient.

Unfortunately, Kailani doesn't find much in the way of eligible men. She does, however, find a dog. Laika joins the house fairly quick because I'm bored and I've not really bothered with pets much.

Kailani and Laika get to share this humble abode--a box--on a massive lot. Honestly, this a more than I expected being able to afford. She was only left with a few thousand simoleons. I've had worse starts. This isn't too shabby. Walls, a bed, and even a proper bathroom!

Brindleton Bay is... quite the boring little place. Everyone gets absolutely hyped about chess matches. Seriously, every sim that came onto the lot made a beeline for the battle of wits that was going down at the nearby ramshackle chessboard.

Also worth noting... available men are in short supply. Poor Kailani.

 

Kailani does meet a possible spouse out of a paparazzo that spawns... which has me hopeful. But then they get into some sort of disagreement and go from being 'Good Friends' to barely on speaking terms. The social system in this game boggles me still, even six years later. Make it make sense, damn it!

So, instead of trolling for dudes, Kailani spends most of her time running around with a dirty Laika. They fish and hunt and hike. Kailani also tends to her garden (her career is Gardener with an Aspiration of Freelance Botanist.

Honestly, I've forgotten how to even start/play legacies, so I'm winging it. Who needs a real career? I'm still rudderless without the LTWs...

She does meet a few alien dudes one night at a bar (that one of the dudes that didn't work out drug her to) but... I'm not sure if I want to complicate things that early in the legacy. Surely there has to be some decent, eligible dudes around here somewhere?

I'm trying not to go too far out to find a dude this early. I want some challenge.

For now, Laikani will just be single and swinging (or biking, rather.) Getting around all these meandering footpaths is taking a year and a day, so I've purchased a bike. Sure, she often forgets it and it's a bit unwieldy (why can't they just magically appear on the bike?) but it's better than her pissing herself because she's taken too long to run along home.

Speaking of which... I was today years old when I realized you can shower in the rain! What?! That's insane. And also kind of cool. And weird.

Keep on keepin' on, you adorable weirdo.

And here comes another weirdo. It ain't a TS4 party until this asshole comes barging into your house. What ever happened to vampires needing to be invited in? I'm so over this dude. He's like the burglar from every other game only, somehow, more annoying.

Luckily, I've gotten used to interrupting him and instead, they have a terse chat and he leaves unsatiated. Good riddance.

One of the aliens Kailani met invites her out on a date during Love Day. Looks like I'm just fighting fate here. He even autonomously asks her to Go Steady (I have a mod.) Cute. All right, I'll allow it.

His traits aren't that bad. He's got Family-Oriented... which I don't think I've ever played. Huh.

There's a lot I haven't done in this game.

Rory Peck joins the legacy house as Kailani's boyfriend. His disguise... is something else. Just look at that fabulous mustache! I'm keeping it. He's dressed exactly how an alien who only had movies and pop culture to go by would dress. I love it. I'm not changing a thing, not even the ridiculous outfit he wears while appearing as an alien.

This should be... interesting.
