1.2 - Only Happy When it Rains

We rejoin our Legacy house in the midst of a pretty typical morning... the sink is broke, Laika is sleeping on the cold tile, and there's puddles forming. Yep. That's about right! Rory will be the resident fixer-of-all-the-things during his tenure.

There honestly isn't much to do. Kailani spends the days when it's not raining out fishing (with Laika hovering nearby, usually) so she can fertilize her plants. Her "career" is pretty lackluster. I think she'll end up being a flower arranger because it fits her mood more than the science-y side. I'm kind of shocked there's no low-key farmer branch.

It isn't exactly the most prestigious of careers, so money is tight. They have zero fun things in the house, aside from a bookcase, so it's a whole lot of reading. Kailani spends most of her time on their little porch. She loves the outdoors, after all.

Laika is a very needy pupper. She really likes being taken on walks and luckily for her, Kailani is happy to oblige. Rory does his part, too, and jogs with her. I'm trying to keep this family somewhat fit since TS4 does a terrible job of managing weight. Living off of garden salads isn't fun for anybody, digital or not.

Ugh, I've had enough of these vampires! At least she didn't barge in. She was just lingering outside the door for some reason. Maybe she knows we have an alien...

I am also so done with all of this rain! It has rained almost every single day since Kailani moved in. Maybe I should have done more research on this world... since I was blissfully ignorant to the fact that each world seems to have its own weather patterns. I really wish we could edit them... or the seasons in general.

Kailani is over the puddles. She's constantly slipping in them when she goes to tend to her garden or flowers.

Most days are spent inside the windowless shack or out on the porch since all it does is rain. No walks, no parks, no nothing. And it's never a light rain, either. It's usually a downpour or a thunderstorm. Fantastic.

Also, such a stately driveway they have... totally doesn't fit what's currently occupying the lot.

Oh, look. It's still raining. The bees could care less, though they seem to have mites every five seconds, which is annoying. I've got bees to try and increase the rate at which the plants evolve. I haven't really messed with gardening or planting since the major overhaul they did quite awhile back and then, of course, Seasons.

Due to the incessant rain, Kailani and Rory are cooped up together quite a bit. Which is typically fine. Their bars are maxed out and they get along famously. However, I turn my back for five seconds and then come back to Kailani looking at Rory as if she's never seen him before.

Kailani: 'Who are you and why are you in my house? Do you realize there's a ridiculous mustache on your face?'

Rory thought it would be hilarious if he mind-wiped his fiancee. I am not amused. She didn't even remember he was an alien!

After trying to do some much-needed damage control, I decide to split them up and have Kailani go research gardening for her daily job task. She spends a lot of time working from home so she can manage all of her plants. They don't own a computer, so she goes all the way to Willow Creek to use their library.

In an effort to keep Rory's Alien hi-jinx to a minimum, I decide to give him a proper job and hobby. Given his celestial leanings, I figured he'd make an excellent engineer. I forgot that this was not only a career newly introduced with Discover University, but that it also requires the use of a ridiculously sized bench. Fantastic.

Well, I guess we'll have robots eventually.

I manage to patch things up between Kailani and Rory enough to usher in the second generation. Kailani rushes off to tell Rory the news and despite the fact he looks pretty nonplussed here, he was thrilled.

Yeah, buddy. It would have happened a hell of a lot sooner if you hadn't gotten trigger happy with your stupid powers! Speaking of which, I should probably have them get hitched already...

Kailani and Rory get hitched quickly outside. Honestly, it's hard for me to tell what's going on half the time with sims getting married in this game. They spent an hour chatting/doing whatever... I thought they were done, nope. They hadn't even exchanged rings yet.

I said elope, not take twenty-four sim hours to get married. Geeze.

During the not-so-hasty nuptials, a random sim decides to die nearby. I've noticed this a lot since playing the game this year... townies and vampires alike expiring over seemingly nothing. I think this lady just got too hot? Or maybe she was a vampire. It's honestly hard to say...

I had six different sims die in a row during another game due to not being appropriately dressed. It was a snowstorm.

Kailani goes out to seek out some more flowers to splice with her current plants for her aspiration milestone. Rory tags along. This chick that came with the magic game pack has his number. She totally knows he's an alien.

Rory: 'What? No way. Would an alien have this fabulous mustache and killer kicks?'

/facepalm

I add Zeus to the household in the hopes of getting some puppies. Unfortunately, despite having seen the 'Mate with...' dialogue previously with Lakai, it doesn't appear at all now. Great.

Kailani spends a lot of her pregnancy in her makeshift greenhouse. They don't have the money to spend on all of the fancy glass yet. Soon. Rory's promotions actually bring in money and, honestly, are the only reason they can currently pay their bills!

It gets crowded in there with everyone hurrying over to socialize/watch Kailani, though.

Going into labor while Rory's at work, Kailani gives birth to generation two... Caspian Ocean. Man, alien babies are super weird looking. I guess I should get used to it! It's pretty much a guarantee that generation two will all be hybrids.
